FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do I need X-rays?
X-rays, or radiographic examinations, provide the prescribing Dr. with an important tool that shows the condition of your teeth, its roots, jaw placement, and the overall composition of your facial bones.

X-rays can help determine the presence or degree of periodontal disease, abscesses, and many abnormal growths, such as cysts and tumors. X-rays also can show the exact location of impacted and unerupted teeth. They can pinpoint the location of cavities and other signs of disease that may not be possible to detect through a visual examination.

Should I be concerned about exposure to radiation?
All health care providers are sensitive to patients’ concerns about exposure to radiation. We have been trained to follow strict radiation protection protocol. We use state of the art medical and dental imaging equipment combined with the fastest film/screen combinations and precise collimation to expose only the region of interest. Additionally, patients are always properly shielded during any X-ray examination. We practice safety!

Do you accept Dental or Medical Insurance as payment?
The short answer is no. MRS is not an insurance provider for any private or governmental dental/medical plans. We will provide you with a coded and itemized receipt for you to submit to your plan for insurance consideration. If a procedure is recognized as a covered benefit, your insurance provider would send any reimbursement directly to you. In the unlikely event that a check is sent to us, we will send you a payment for that benefit amount. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards as forms of payment. There is also the possibility that your dental or medical service provider will request a direct bill to their office. If this is the case, there would be no out of pocket expense from you for services rendered. We will always advise you of your payment responsibilities at the time you make your appointment.

What is the next step after my X-ray exam?
Our team at MRS works diligently, to provide Dr.’s with great quality imaging.  Depending on the X-rays that were requested, your images will be forwarded to your referring Dr. with-in 5 to 7 business days.  We cannot forward cases to multiple Dr.’s, however, duplication of records is available for an additional fee.
